TENANT FEES
Since the 1st June 2019 most tenant fees charged in connection with a tenancy are banned. However the following are permitted.
PERMITTED FEES
Payments associated with early termination of the tenancy agreement when requested by the tenant.
Changes to the tenancy agreement (Payments capped at £50 or reasonably incurred costs) for the variation, assignment or novation of a tenancy.
Replacement of lost keys/security devices giving access to the housing were required under the tenancy agreement.
Rent arrears If your rent is more than 14 days in arrears a default fee can be charged (limited by the tenant fees act to interest on the outstanding amount capped at 3% above the Bank of England base rate.
